A free concert at a shopping mall in Denmark descended into violence on Wednesday when fans began rioting as police evacuated the venue due to a fire alarm alert. Akon put on the free gig at Fields Shopping Mall in Copenhagen.

Reuters reported that nearly 3,000 people came out to the Field shopping mall to catch a free concert by Akon, many waiting for hours before the concert to gain entrance.

With the unexpected amount of people that turned out, many were not let into the concert before of it reaching capacity.

"It was a free concert and we knew that many people would come, but there were a lot of people there, more than we had expected," Fields director, Jens Geppel told Reuters.

A fire alarm rang, which later was learned to be a false alarm, during the singer's third song and police began evacuating protesting fans.

That's when things got out of control. Fans fought with police trying to evacuate, throwing rocks at bottles.

Eight people were reported arrested during the turmoil, while others were treated for injuries sustained the commotion, none of which were reported to be serious.
