Now I know many of you based on the title of this blog have either been the giver of this harsh reality or the receiver. Either way I think it is one of the most dreaded statements anyone in a relationship can say or hear.
Basically, when someone says, it's not you...it's me; in my opinion their actually saying I think I am too good for you and before your a$$ gets too attached I got to go. Many of my friends, male and female ask me the same question. "What do you think I did wrong"? Absolutely nothing in most cases:
-Some people just get too clingy; this goes for a lot of women. Once you meet a nice guy you automatically start hyphenating your name or picking future baby names for the kids you want to have with this unsuspecting soul. Let it just flow, live day by day. One of two things might happen.
1. You realize this person just isn't the right one and you can't stand looking or even talking to them anymore.
2. You've met the person that makes your liver quiver and he feels the same way.
-A lot of women and men bring their past baggage to the new relationship. Ladies, he doesn't need to know the last guy you were with cheated on you by screwing around with your best friend. Live by the don't ask don't tell policy. If that fool doesn’t ask, don't say ish.
- This goes for both men and women. DON'T ACT SO DAMN DESPERATE. That's a major turnoff. The key to a great relationship is confidence. If you act like "lawd I need someone now before I die" (well maybe not that desperate) that is a red flag. It shows you're not independent and you might need more than any one person can give you. Show me you're about your ish, and you know your self worth.
- Everything that glitters isn’t gold. What I mean by that is, just because that guy has the nice car, got the new Yeezies and he's fine as all hell doesn't make him the better man. Open up your mind and heart to other things. You just might find what you need verses what you want. So what if he or she isn't a Idris Elba or a Halle Berry knock off. I guarantee you once you open your mind and give your heart, Idris Elba won't have ish on your man! So ladies and gentleman, the next time someone says it's not you baby...it's me. It might just be you.
