Big Bubb got to work with the late, great Pimp C and learned a lot from him.

How long you been an artist on UGK Records?
I been on UGK Records going on about a year now.
You had time to work with Pimp C. What was that like?
It was beautiful. It’s hard to find a genuine person like Pimp C and have them in your life. You could go to him with your problems or go to him with problems with the label and he could fix them. He was just a genuine dude. He was a forefather of the South. He was encouraging and he was a blessing for me as far as the music game.
What major artist’s have you worked with?
Mainly Pimp C, but I have something coming up with Do or Die on their album if all works out. The rest has yet to come.
Where were you when you heard about his passing?
I was in Dallas, at home. I had just left he high rise in Houston recording for the UGK Posse album. We had just done a show in Dallas on Wednesday, the day before Thanksgiving, and we had went to the high rise to start recording for the UGK Posse album. We were doing the album to showcase the artists that are on UGK Records.
Is the album still coming out or has it been put on hold?
The album is still gonna drop. We are trying to find ways to get it out there. We are trying to get with Bun B to all get together and decide how we are gonna get the album out. We wanna let the world now about the people that were closest to Pimp C, music wise.
Who all is in the UGK crew?
Hezeleo was the first artist in the group to get to work with Pimp C when he first got out of prison (Pimp C hosted Hezeleo’s mixtape called Block Starz Vol.1 and is featured on his single “I Bought A Cadillac” along with Bun B). 17, he also had a chance to get Pimp C to present his album, “Certified”. Pimp C had 17 staying with him to keep him from getting caught in the Mississippi streets. Young T-O-E, Pimp C labeled him the future of UGK Records. He made it on the Underground Kingz ("Grind Hard"). DJ B-Do, he also made it on "Grind Hard". Bankroll Jones, Ivory P, E. Visious (he recorded one of the last songs with Pimp C that will be on his next project), and Bundy G.
What songs or singles have you recorded?
I have plenty [songs] recorded that could be singles but haven’t been released yet. The only one so far is a song called "Tip Top", which was produced by myself and Mr. Cleva out of north Dallas who is a hell of a producer.
Do you have a lead single coming out soon?
I have a few. One with the UGK Posse called "Trunk Just Popped Up", and one with BTC entertainment called "Hold Up" featuring myself and Pimp C.
What direction Big Bubb is trying to take and whats next for Big Bubb?
Well, right now its to see the UGK family see out what Pimp C started and keep his name alive. Next would probably be to get a complete solo project out there with some good features. After that, create a household name and get more involved with running a label (which i do have my own label called Go Getta's Entertaiment) and focus more on the next generation to come. I’m also doing features all over with all the underdogs, like Big Game Huntaz out of Florida, BTC Entertainment out of Cincinnati, which Pimp C and I feature on a song called " Hold Up" (which will be on their album and give Pimp C’s kids 33.3% of the proceeds off that song). They will also be shooting a video to the song, be looking out for it! I plan to work with Mike Bigalo, out of Houston, on future projects. We already have songs recorded together which we performed when we opened up for Lil Flip on New Years, [I’m working with] Block Boyz, The S.E.T Boyz, plus my own label mates, Lil Roe Tha Regulator, a young guy with a mean rap game, Roy “Abstraq” Thomas, who is an artist/producer/engineer, and DJ Mr. 3 who is an artist on Go Getta’s Entertainment and CEO (half partner with me).
Where’s Big Bubb and UGK records headed in 2008? What’s the next step?
Stay prayed up and stay making music. Mainly, we trying to stay close. And stay focused.
