Last night was the finale of Keyshia Cole: The Way It Is. I didn't get the chance to watch the entire season but what I saw was pretty good. I think it is pretty big of Keyshia to let the entire BET viewing audience get a taste of what her life is like off stage and outside of the studio. If you missed the finale, enjoy the recap.


The finale begins with Keyshia, Frankie and Neffe at their last therapy session. The doctor asks them what they want for their futures, and for the first time the women all seem to really be in a better place. They acknowledge that there’s still a lot of work to do regarding their relationships, but they vow to keep moving forward.

Later at home, Neffe, Frankie and Ronique discuss Neffe’s decision about her baby. She has decided to have an abortion and Frankie is not happy at all. The mother and daughter have a heated exchange. In one of the most heart-wrenching moments of the season, Neffe makes the dreaded call to make an appointment to terminate her pregnancy(let me interrupt real quick...why did they feel the need to put this on TV? This could have been a decision made in private).

Meanwhile, Keyshia has decided to have an impromptu family reunion to unite members of both her biological family and foster parents. Keyshia has arranged for everyone to ride on a party bus to the restaurant for a big family meal while she rehearses for an upcoming performance. Two of Frankie’s children, Sammy and Elite, are disappointed to find their mother drunk before the festivities have even begun.

The gang arrives at a restaurant for a family lunch, but things quickly get out of hand when a big argument starts between Frankie, Neffe and Keyshia’s foster parents. Just when it looks like things are about to get violent, calmer heads prevail, the family gathers for prayer, and everyone settles down for some fun.

Keyshia arrives just as the drama ends, and the group goes on to play games and ride the rides at Universal Studios. In the end, Keyshia got just what she wanted, a true family reunion.
